Norfolk Steps

The school has a number of Norfolk Steps tutors who work to ensure staff are able to confidently support pupils to develop the skills to manage their emotions positively. It is used alongside other approaches including 'Zones of Regulation' and 'Positive Behaviour Support' to teach self regulation and provides training 

All teaching and learning staff get Step On training annually. 

• Step On is based on sound therapeutic principles which promote positive behaviour strategies such as; consistency, de-escalation, behaviour analysis and differentiated planning. (Norfolk Steps Communication - Norfolk County Council website)

Staff receive Step Up training as required based on audited need. 

• Step Up focuses on the safe and effective use of restrictive physical intervention and is provided to core staff within services who have completed Step On training and have maintained certification. (Norfolk Steps Communication - Norfolk County Council website)
